The National Trust on Divis and the Black Mountain

The National Trust is planning for ongoing work on Divis and the Black Mountain, in the Belfast Hills.

In 2022 we were commissioned by the National Trust to carry out a reflection process with the team working on Divis and the Black Mountain. In planning for the future, the Trust was keen to understand what had been done already and how it had been received by locals and visitors.

We spent time with the team on the mountains themselves, and asked local stakeholders about how they experienced and felt about the landscapes there, as well as what they wanted and needed in and from the mountains in the future. From this process it was clear just how much Divis and the Black Mountain mean, not only in the communities at their feet, but across Northern Ireland. We facilitated the team to identify what has been working well and how to protect and grow that, and made recommendations based on our findings.
